The Power of a Plunger

You don’t have to be a plumber to wield a trusty plunger. If a clog is a culprit causing your toilet to overflow, turn off the water intake valve below the tank. Next, drain out the water or remove it from the bowl, then plunge the drain opening as fast as you can several times.

Once the water goes down, plunge again and then turn the water back on. Flush and your toilet, and it should now be unclogged, but what if it still is? Try the next step.

An Auger is Your Best Friend

Never underestimate what a simple auger can do for you. Push the auger into the drain and, turning it clockwise, make sure it tightens at the clog. Turn it anti-clockwise for a bit and then continue cranking it clockwise again until the drill is completely in. For the last step, pull the whole drill out at once.

What do you see clogging it? Toys? Bottle caps? Please remove them and any other debris, then plunge one last time before flushing.
